Parent and Carer Update: 11th June

Dear Parents/Carers,

Please see update for Thursday 11th June below

P7-S1 Transition Resources – 16th-18th June 2020

City of Edinburgh Council have developed a transition resource for current P7 pupils who are going into S1 next year. St Augustine’s have shared a digital version of this on the transition designated page of their website and via their Transition MS Team. We will also share this resource digitally next week.

The resource is designed to give pupil’s a transition focus from Tuesday 16th June to Thursday 18th June 2020, the days when pre-CV19 the pupils would have been making their transition visits to Secondary School. Miss Munro will share these transition tasks each day via Teams.

If anyone wishes to receive a paper copy of these resources they can be obtained in the same way that our stationery offers have been in the past, via a trolley placed just inside our school gates. Please observe social distancing when collecting these resources and let us know if you have any questions about them.

Nursery-P1 Important Transition Information

As previously referred to, in the absence of the opportunity to organise Transition Visits to Primary Schools, the City of Edinburgh Council have produced their own transition materials based on the book ‘Going on a Bear Hunt’. These materials can be found at:

www.bearhuntedinburgh.wordpress.com

Translated versions of the materials can be found here:

Summer Reading Challenge – Message from City of Edinburgh Council Libraries

With the current disruptions caused by COVID-19 and the impact of social distancing on places of learning and public libraries, we at Edinburgh Libraries are unable to visit your classes in person before pupils break for the Summer holidays so the 2020 Summer Reading Challenge will launch for the first time ever this year as a free online activity.

Children can register for the Summer Reading Challenge here:

Kind regards

Pat Brack, HT and all at St Cuthbert’s Primary.
