P6 & P7 Instrumental Tuition – Message from Cello Teacher to Parents/Carers of His Pupils

Dear Parent/Carer,

Sadly, I have been asked not to contact you on a weekly basis for the time being and to concentrate on high school pupils instead. I hope this will be a temporary measure, but I cannot at this point say when it might come to an end. In the meantime, can I ask you to continue to encourage your child to do whatever they can on the cello? Anything is a bonus! Please stay safe and positive and I will be in touch when I can.

Best Wishes,

Neil

A Thank You

As you know, we always like to share positive feedback wherever we can. Today, Mrs Banks has asked me to share her gratitude to the pupils who have been helping her with the assignments tab on Teams. She really appreciated your help – thank you P5!

Important Message from Fr Duffy re First Holy Communions 2020

Dear All,

I am aware that many of you are concerned about whether the First Communion celebrations for 2020 will go ahead as planned

Given the uncertainty and the constant changing about the future especially in terms of the restrictions at various levels e.g I still don’t know when the Churches will be allowed to open. I feel that it is better to say now that First Communion Celebration will not take place on June 14th as we had hoped.

The current situation would make it very difficult to make it a true and real celebration for the children.  Practical issues would impinge e.g. how do we arrange practices for readers, offertory procession and the various parts of the Mass which the children take us through.

Therefore, I would rather delay the celebration until after the summer holidays by which time hopefully we will be in a clearer position to have that true celebration I mentioned above.

The Bishops of Scotland have also suggested that First Communion celebrations be delayed. I am really sorry that this is happening and I have thought and prayer long and hard before coming to this decision.

I cannot give a new date at this time but as things become better and clearer I will be able to do so. Mr. Brack has kindly agreed to put this notice in the next newsletter update but if you hear of anyone not having received it please pass on the information to them or they can contact me directly with any question.

I am grateful for your understanding even though there will be disappointment.

Yours prayerfully

Monsignor Tony

CEC Letter re: Nursery provision

Dear Parent/Carer
You may be aware that the Scottish Government has made the very difficult decision to
postpone the statutory entitlement of every child to receive 1140 hours of funded Early
Learning and Childcare from 1.8.2020. Edinburgh Council were on track to provide this
entitlement for all eligible children and has been phasing in a plan over the past two years.
This has included provision in local authority settings, private providers, childminders and independent nurseries.
As part of this provision, new local authority nursery buildings were being constructed to accommodate the large numbers of spaces required to ensure that all our children received their entitlement. A recruitment drive was also underway in order to staff settings.
The impact of the corona virus has meant that our plans will not be ready for August 2020; the new nursery buildings will not be completed and the staff will not all be recruited in time to provide everyone with 1140 hours of ELC.
Therefore, I am writing to inform you that it will be necessary to amend our plans for the
implementation of 1140 placements. I know that some parents will be very disappointed by this news as you might already have incorporated this entitlement into your childcare plans for August.
We will look at the allocation of places and confirm what we are able to allocate to you for August. There will also be information posted on our website shortly that indicates the flexibility of access to places across the city so that parents can make informed choices for their child. Ensuring the quickest delivery of 1140 funded entitlement to all Edinburgh`s children will be a priority once we have managed through these difficult times. I know that parents, although disappointed will understand and I will endeavour to keep you informed at the earliest possible time. I appreciate that school staff will be stopping for the Easter break but we will be in contact with parents as soon as possible.
In the meantime, please keep safe and I wish you and your family well.
Yours sincerely
Lynn Paterson
Senior Education Manager
