P1 have had an excellent week.

We have been really busy in literacy, focusing on the ‘f’ and ‘u’ sound. We also learned the common word ‘I’.

In maths we have been focusing on using positional language such as front/behind, forwards/backwards, above/below and left and right. We also started learning to recognise and create symmetrical patterns. Check out our wonderful butterflies!

We have also been learning how to safe around fireworks whilst celebrating Bonfire Night and Diwali. Fireman Sam helped us learn the rules!

We enjoyed creating painting and drawings of fireworks. We also made some Diwali lanterns.

Finally, we visited the Book Bus to swap our books. So many of us have been reading for enjoyment in class.

We have been so busy this week in P1.

For Black History Month we have enjoyed reading more stories and having great discussions. #GlobalGoal10

In maths we are focusing on data analysis. We have been sorting items into groups and creating charts and graphs to show our findings. We have also been on a signs/charts hunt during outdoor learning!

We have been practicing our phonics and have learned ‘g’ this week. P1 worked very hard when writing our story this week ‘The Magic Carpet’.

During play we have been very creative and enjoyed playing with the clay! #Article31

P1 have been learning all about Black History Month. We have been learning the importance of celebrating diversity. We have been singing the Sesame Street song “Celebrate Black History” and have really enjoyed singing “I’m proud of who I am and who I’m going to be. So much to celebrate and say yippee!”

We have also been learning about some significant figures and enjoying some wonderful stories such as ‘Handa’s Surprise’.

In maths we have been working hard on Data Analysis. We carried out a whole class survey about our favourite colours and created a pictograph during group time. We have also been doing surveys about our favourite pets and looking at the most popular eye colour! We have been learning to identify what is the most popular, least popular and equally popular.

In Literacy, we have been working hard to learn our new phonics sounds and have been using our creativity to write our own stories.

We have also enjoyed lots of imaginative and creative play!

We have had another super week. We were visited by Margon from The Green Team who took us out for Outdoor Learning. We collected different sizes/colours of leaves, created patterns and shapes with more Autumnal treasures and loved playing with the parachute! 🪂 #GlobalGoal3 $Article24

We have also enjoyed revising the sounds learned so far, writing a story and practicing writing our numbers!

P1 have had another super week!

For Maths Week we have been learning how to recognise, create and continue patterns. We enjoyed doing a pattern hunt during some outdoor learning! #GlobalGoal4 ✏️

In literacy we have been continuing learning our phonic sounds and have been working hard with our handwriting, blending and creating stories.

Wow – P1 have been so busy since they started school! We have been settling in, learning our new routines and joining in with the wider school life!

We have started our literacy and numeracy lessons and have been enjoying lots of creative play! #Article31 🌟

It is also Climate Action month and P1 have enjoyed reading ‘I love my Bike’ by Simon Mole. We have been discussing why travelling by bike is better for our planet and have even started a Climate display in our classroom! #GlobalGoal13 🌎
