P3 have been learning about firework and bonfire safety this week. They made posters with tips for staying safe around fireworks #Article19 – The right to be safe.
We also looked at Babtunde Olatunji – a civil rights activist and musician as part of Black History month #Article 2 – The right to no discrimination. P3 loved sharing their views and having a go at drumming themselves! #Article28 – The right to education.
P3 loved learning about x-rays as part of their class topic. Pupils looked at the equipment used during an X-ray, shared experiences of being in hospital and learnt about the bones in their hands to create their own x-ray artwork! #Article24- The right to healthcare.

P3 loved welcoming Officer Brodie and Officer Brayden into our class this week as part of our “The world of work around us” topic! Pupils prepared questions to ask the officers and learnt how they help us stay safe! #Article19 – The right to be safe.
The officers talked about the daily jobs involved in being a police officer, the different vehicles they use and shared some very important safety tips! Thank you again Police Scotland.
P3 started the week by creating Swanston Farm masterpiece! We followed an online tutorial and used the memories from our trip to add some special details. They look amazing 🤩 #Article28- The right to education.
We also visited the ChurchHill Theatre to watch “The Buttonz show” – which was great fun! The children loved the catchy songs, magic tricks and silly jokes! #Article 29 – The right to develops talents and abilities.
P3 also enjoyed switching up their usual book review Thursday activity to do their first show review! They even tried to draw the main character “Mr Buttonz” 🤡
Finally, P3 have been working hard all week to complete a different brain break each day to boost their mental and physical wellbeing #Article24 – The right to be healthy. Most learners found they felt more awake and ready to learn, their mood improved and they had fun!

P3 had a fabulous day out at Swanston Farm today. As part of our class topic, the world of work around us – we visited Swanston farm to see what animals live there and the jobs of a local farmer #Article28 – The right to education.
The children got to meet highland cows, goats, chickens and horses on our tour of the working farm. The children worked hard to stay quiet and respectful around the animals to keep everyone safe and enjoyed hearing what jobs are involved in the animals care. #Article19 – The right to be safe.
We finished the tour by discussing some of the produce produced from farms, the benefits of a well balanced diet and supporting local farmers, this linked with our Health and wellbeing learning and our class topic! #Article24 – The right to be healthy #SDG15 – Life on land #SDG2 – Food security.
P3 have been working hard during their place value topic and IDL learning during #MathweekScotland this week!
This years theme was “Maths Matters” and the children loved linking this with our class topic “The World of work around us”. Learners shared their ideas of what jobs involved numeracy and loved sharing the jobs they would like to do that involve maths! #Article13 – The right to share thoughts freely.
P3 also looked at comparing objects and numbers using greater than, less than, and equal too symbols. #Article28 – The right to education
P3 have been working on following the school values by being respectful, supportive and active members of the class. #Article28 – The right to education.
P3 have been enjoying their book review Thursdays and our visit from the mobile library book bus ! 🚌📚
Finally, P3 also started their “world of work topic” by looking at farmers and the important jobs they do to help us # Article24 – The right to be healthy. P3 are super excited for their trip to Swanston Farm.
P3 worked super hard on their writing this week, learning to use adjectives to describe different things!
We have also been focussing on using finger spaces, punctuation and our presentation.
