In addition to our Health and Wellbeing leadership role, some of our learners are class representatives in the other groups; Digital, Rights and Learning, Sustainability and Modern Languages. Last week, Primary 2 learned about the life and achievements of some famous black saints as we celebrated both the end of Black History Month and All Saints Day. Primary 2 enjoyed our visit from Officer Brody and Officer Brayden of Police Scotland as part of our People Who Help Us topic. We are celebrating Black History Month. We learned why we celebrate it, famous black people and their achievements and created some art pieces. One of our learners shared some books she brought from home about Rose Parks & others and read them to the class. #SDG10 #ReducedInequalities #RRSArticle2 #NoDiscrimination

In Numeracy, Primary 2 have begun our addition block; we learned how to use plus and equals symbols, write number sentences and add using different strategies. We are practicing our number bonds to 10 everyday! #SDG4 #QualityEducation #RRS28 #RightToEducation

We visited the Churchill Theatre on Wednesday for an interactive performance ‘Buttons’. We developed our rhythm & rhyming skills and were inspired for next writing block; Creative Writing will be our October to December focus. #RightToRestPlay&Culture.

We visited the local play park on Thursday to celebrate all our hard work!

In Numeracy, Primary 2 were celebrating Maths Week Scotland through Digital Learning and play. In addition to our SEAL strands and number bonds, we are learning about greater than, less than and equal to. All learners were really engaged and completed tasks with support and independently, some groups were even looking at three digit numbers!

In Literacy, we spotted an opportunity for some outdoor learning. We are learning about bossy verbs and how we need to use them for instructional writing! We played ‘Simon Says’ and ‘What’s the Time Mr Wolf?’ using bossy verbs before using them in our writing.

We are Health and Wellbeing Pupil Leadership Group! We love PE! This week we focused more on spatial awareness and communication in ball games such as Bum Ball and Hoop Ball!

Primary 2 have defeated Mr Crowley and Mrs Webb in the ‘Tidy Up Battle’! Our class reward will be a trip a nearby playpark. Letter and further information to come!

Thank you to those who have volunteered for our trip to the Churchill Theatre! We now have enough volunteers to make the trip safe and successful!

All learners in Primary 2 are really settled and enjoying the blended approach of learning and play in the classroom. We are learning to demonstrate many of the school values through play including creativity and respect. #Article31 #RightToPlay

In Numeracy, we are learning to understand place value. Learners are enjoying working at the teaching table on their SEAL strategies, completing tasks with Mrs Webb and engaging in digital learning opportunities such as using the CleverTouch board to practise number bonds. #SDG4 #QualityEducation

In Literacy, we are learning to chose and respond to a story. We are learning how to create instructions. We learned about the important parts of a recipe and look forward to learning even more about punctuation & verbs this term. #Article28 #RightToEducation
