P3 completed their next habitat this week. We started by learning about the different oceans in the world and what lived in them. They painted realistic ocean backgrounds using a variety of different tones then drew clownfish, turtles, sharks and dolphins as these are common ocean creatures. #Article31
P3 were very fortunate to have a taster session with the Scottish Ballet school this week. They learnt about their show “The snow Queen” and learnt different moves they perform in the show #Article15 – The right to join and set up groups.
They also designed monsters and named them using an alliteration to enter into the “Young writers Monster Mayhem drawing competition” Wish us luck 🤞🏼🍀 #Article28 – The right to education.
P3 started the week by enjoying some time with their P7 buddies working on their digital skills.
They also finished their length and height numeracy topic and consolidated their learning by measuring different classroom objects in cm and ordering them.
In literacy, P3 used thesauruses to discover synonyms for every day words to transform them into ✨wow✨words. This developed their digital skills and their vocabulary! #Article28 – The right to education.
Finally, in art, they started their third habitat for our topic masterpieces! Learners used oil pastels to create a realistic ocean background. #Article24
P3 worked super hard this week in their numeracy, learning to add numbers to the nearest 10, adding 10 to any number and adding to a 10 using number bond knowledge. #Article28 – The right to Education
They also learnt about a new habitat this week – forests. They learnt the different layers of a forest and what the characteristics of each layer are. #Article24 – The right to Health, food, water and the environment.
Their hard work, positive attitudes and focus this week resulted in them being awarded class of the week!! P3 super stars ⭐️🌟✨
This week P3 started their new class topic, “Habitats”. Pupils learnt what a habitat is, and different habitats across the world.
We started by looking at Desert habitats, where they are on the map and what plants and animals live there.
We used this knowledge to start the first of our 4 habitats for our mixed technique collages. Pupils drew a desert scene and then used hot and cold coloured pencils to create a sunset, before using glue and salt to create a sand like texture. #Article24
P3 also had a wonderful time learning about All Saints, attending Mass and participating in the Halloween disco! #Article2 #Article14
P3 loved celebrating Diwali this week, we looked at the story of Rama and Sita, created rangoli patterns and enjoyed an amazing dance performance. Pupils also participated in a Diwali party where they got to try traditional snacks and treats. #Article14 – The right to freedom of thought and religion.
P3 finished the week by welcoming Mr Brack into the classroom during their writing lesson. Pupils were learning to use verbs and adjectives to describe a setting. Mr Brack and Miss Tulloch were so impressed with the hard work and focus shown resulting in P3 winning Class of the week! 🎉⭐️
P3 have been learning about Mary, our mother and the rosary as we entered October. We decorated stones with roses and presented them in our school Mary Garden. They have also been practicing the Hail Mary Prayer. #article14
P3 have also been learning about autumn and the changes in the weather whilst creating gorgeous autumnal leaf artwork 🍁🍂🍃

P3 have been working super hard since the start of term to learn their common spelling words. This week they participated in various active spelling activities but particularly spelling enjoyed using play dough to create their words #Article31 #Article28
This hard work, focus and determination payed off as they all scored extremely high in our end of week spelling test – Well done P3 🤩⭐️
They also self assessed their literacy work so far and set new writing and reading targets for this term.
