First week of November in P3

P3 have had a great week! They finished their desert habitats by watercolouring the sand and describing desert characterises in their jotters.

They also learnt about firework and bonfire safety and created beautiful firework paintings. #Article28 – The right to play and rest.

Finally, they learnt Spanish numbers up to 10 and created posters to show their learning and understanding. #Article28 – The right to Education.

P3s new topic – Habitats 🌱🍃

This week P3 started their new class topic, “Habitats”. Pupils learnt what a habitat is, and different habitats across the world.

We started by looking at Desert habitats, where they are on the map and what plants and animals live there.

We used this knowledge to start the first of our 4 habitats for our mixed technique collages. Pupils drew a desert scene and then used hot and cold coloured pencils to create a sunset, before using glue and salt to create a sand like texture. #Article24

P3 also had a wonderful time learning about All Saints, attending Mass and participating in the Halloween disco! #Article2 #Article14

P3 learning this week!

P3 loved celebrating Diwali this week, we looked at the story of Rama and Sita, created rangoli patterns and enjoyed an amazing dance performance. Pupils also participated in a Diwali party where they got to try traditional snacks and treats. #Article14 – The right to freedom of thought and religion.

P3 finished the week by welcoming Mr Brack into the classroom during their writing lesson. Pupils were learning to use verbs and adjectives to describe a setting. Mr Brack and Miss Tulloch were so impressed with the hard work and focus shown resulting in P3 winning Class of the week! 🎉⭐️

P3 learning this week!

P3 have been learning about Mary, our mother and the rosary as we entered October. We decorated stones with roses and presented them in our school Mary Garden. They have also been practicing the Hail Mary Prayer. #article14

P3 have also been learning about autumn and the changes in the weather whilst creating gorgeous autumnal leaf artwork 🍁🍂🍃

P3 spelling superstars ⭐️

P3 have been working super hard since the start of term to learn their common spelling words. This week they participated in various active spelling activities but particularly spelling enjoyed using play dough to create their words #Article31 #Article28

This hard work, focus and determination payed off as they all scored extremely high in our end of week spelling test – Well done P3 🤩⭐️

They also self assessed their literacy work so far and set new writing and reading targets for this term.

P3 Math Week Scotland

This week P3 enjoyed celebrating Math Week Scotland by participating in various activities linking with our in class learning and outdoor learning.

P3 have been looking at shape and symmetry this week and enjoyed making natural symmetrical pictures with The Green Team. #Article24

They also looked at the artist Kandinsky and created their own compositions using 2D shape, line and contrasting colours. #Article31

Finally P3 consolidated their learning of greater than, less than and equal to by using natural resources to compare objects.

P3 have been learning about greater than, less than, and equal to symbols in numeracy and used concrete materials to support their understanding. #Article28

P3 worked on coordination and team work skills in PE and worked hard to improve their skills and resilience. #Article24

To finish the week, P3 had a final practise of this week’s spelling words before testing their spelling!

P3s visit from the teddy hospital 🧸

P3 had a very special visit from Glasgow’s Children’s Hospital to participate in the Teddy hospital workshop. They learnt all about hospitals, different medical equipment and how hospitals work to help us stay safe.

Pupils got their temperature checked and got to use a blood pressure machine. We later linked this to the UNCRC and discussed the right to Health, food, water and environment #Article24.

P3 – class of the week ⭐️⭐️⭐️

P3 have had an amazing week! They worked extremely hard on their place value numeracy work and experimented with base 10, IT and concrete materials to help themselves learn #Article28. They also learnt the colours of the rainbow in Spanish and worked hard to link this learning across the curriculum throughout the week #Article7

Due to their hard work, focus and determinate, P3 were announced as “class of the week” and celebrated with toast, juice and music! Well done P3 ⭐️
