Primary 7 2/10/26 Scotland Climate Focus Week

As part of our Scotland’s Climate Week focus, P7 participated in an outdoor learning session and started working on an Active Travel Campaign as part of Keep Scotland Beautiful’s Climate Week activities. This helped pupils think about the barriers to choosing active travel and encouraged them to consider more sustainable ways of getting around. We learned that transport is one of the biggest sources of greenhouse gas emissions, making active travel an important way to help reduce our environmental impact.

On Monday, pupils enjoyed an afternoon doing outdoor leaning in the parkland grounds of Astley Ainslie Hospital. Linking with our World War II Social Studies topic, pupils walked through the woods imagining how people might have found food, shelter materials and developed survival skills during challenging times. Working in small groups, they were given the challenge of creating an overnight shelter using ropes, tarpaulins and natural materials found on the ground. P7 also had time to demonstrate their creativity by designing and building their own swings using ropes and branches.
