P7 enjoyed a fascinating and thought-provoking trip to the National War Museum, Edinburgh. During the visit, pupils took part in a guided tour of the museum galleries, exploring artefacts from the Second World War and learning about their historical significance.
Pupils also participated in a hands-on enquiry session in the Wartime Life Room, where they investigated the experiences of four individuals who lived through the war, including an evacuee and a prisoner of war. Through examining evidence and discussing different perspectives, pupils developed their understanding of how conflict can affect people’s lives and communities.
The visit provided an engaging opportunity to bring classroom learning to life, developing pupils’ historical enquiry skills, critical thinking and communication. Pupils also enjoyed exploring Edinburgh Castle and learning more about Scotland’s rich heritage.
