P3 spelling superstars โญ๏ธ

P3 have been working super hard since the start of term to learn their common spelling words. This week they participated in various active spelling activities but particularly spelling enjoyed using play dough to create their words #Article31 #Article28

This hard work, focus and determination payed off as they all scored extremely high in our end of week spelling test – Well done P3 ๐Ÿคฉโญ๏ธ

They also self assessed their literacy work so far and set new writing and reading targets for this term.

Titanic Project

Our Primary 5 class have been busy creating shoebox models to show the different classes on board the Titanic. From the grand first-class cabins to the more modest third-class rooms, the children have learned about the contrasts in living conditions and the experiences of passengers on that historic journey.

Through this project, we explored themes of fairness and equality, linking our learning to UNCRC Article 2 โ€“ the right of every child to be treated fairly, no matter who they are. Just as passengers on the Titanic were treated differently depending on their class, we discussed how important it is that in todayโ€™s world every child is valued equally and given the same rights and opportunities.

The children showed fantastic creativity, teamwork, and attention to detail โ€“ well done P5! ๐ŸŒŸ

Maths Week P5

P5 participated in Maths week with outdoor learning and a visit from Andrew our visiting IT specialist. P5 took their place value topic outside and enjoyed team games that consolidated their understanding of numbers up to 10,000. In their IT lesson Andrew taught the class how to create their own maths game on Keynote.

Maths Week Scotland P6

As this week is Maths Week Scotland, we took the opportunity to learn maths in different ways. The theme is โ€œWild Mathsโ€ so most of our lessons took place outside.

On Monday we went into the playground and created our own place value charts with chalk. We then used natural resources to represent numbers using the chart, whilst also working on our rounding skills.

On Wednesday we also headed into the playground with rulers and meter sticks. We were finding objects in the playground to measure and then working out their perimeter.

Well done primary 6 for your effort in maths this week!๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŒฑ
