P7 had a busy week, starting with Outdoor Learning on Monday morning. We visited the picturesque Hermitage of Braid to take part in an introduction to orienteering. Pupils were divided into small groups and were given maps and compasses. They worked together to navigate the area, read and interpret maps, and locate a series of marked points. The children thoroughly enjoyed the problem-solving challenges and demonstrated excellent teamwork, communication and resilience throughout the activity. A huge thank you to Margon and Natali from the Green Team for helping to organise this fantastic learning opportunity.

On Wednesday, we took part in our second Climate Ready Classrooms session organised by Keep Scotland Beautiful. Last week, we learned about greenhouse gases and their effects on our planet. We carried out an experiment using vinegar, bicarbonate of soda, balloons and bottles to demonstrate how gases can build up in the atmosphere. This week’s workshop focused on biodiversity. Following the online session, we took part in an activity to explore the wider impacts of biodiversity loss and ecosystem collapse, helping us understand the importance of protecting habitats and living things.
