My name is Fiona Damen and I am your Active School Sports Coordinator.
My role is to work with the feeder primary school to St Augustine’s HS. I am here to support and facilitate physical activity in school and in extracurricular time. We offer every club for free and all clubs are taken by staff, coaches and parents . We are reliant on these amazing volunteers to provide a variety of clubs each term. All clubs are inclusive and accessible to all pupils.
My role also supports Bike training for P6/7 and supporting the staff to deliver this each year. I also organise positive transition work such as the P6 Games and the Dance Cluster Showcase this year in June and other sporting events .
P7 leadership is another area supported and facilitated by myself and these pupils can then support younger pupils play at lunchtimes .
All this hard work by your staff and Head teacher have led to St Cuthberts being one of the 1st wave of primary schools to gain their Gold School Sports Award and indeed meeting the Minister of Sport and First Minister in recognition of this incredible Gold Star standard of PE and Sport.
I look forward to working with you this year and if any parent would like to support a new club or one that is running please get in touch. even if just a 4 week running club it all makes such an impact !

P4 had an amazing time taking part in a drama workshop! The pupils learned dancing, acting, and singing to Matilda’s Revolting Children. They listened carefully to the drama tutor and performed with real conviction and enthusiasm – what natural talent! A fun and memorable experience for all!

P5 enjoyed participating in a Drama Workshop this week. #article28
P6 have had a wonderful week of learning, our focus in topic has been on dinosaurs and other prehistoric animals. The class have written brilliant stories about being a dinosaur and have been working on their blending skills for an artwork piece on dinosaurs too. We have also been continuing learning about place value in maths!🤩

P3 have had an amazing week! They worked extremely hard on their place value numeracy work and experimented with base 10, IT and concrete materials to help themselves learn #Article28. They also learnt the colours of the rainbow in Spanish and worked hard to link this learning across the curriculum throughout the week #Article7
Due to their hard work, focus and determinate, P3 were announced as “class of the week” and celebrated with toast, juice and music! Well done P3 ⭐️

P1 have been so busy! Take a look at our creative play this week:

We’ve also been busy at the teaching table! We’ve continued learning our sounds and practising our numbers. Well done P1!
