P3 have had a great week! They finished their desert habitats by watercolouring the sand and describing desert characterises in their jotters.
They also learnt about firework and bonfire safety and created beautiful firework paintings. #Article28 – The right to play and rest.
Finally, they learnt Spanish numbers up to 10 and created posters to show their learning and understanding. #Article28 – The right to Education.
Outdoor learning
This week we had a visit from #thegreenteam where we took our topic learning outside and made continents out of rope, we added animals and wether to our creations using natural materials.
Topic
This week we learned all about Antarctica. We spoke about how cold it is in Antarctica, the animals and made igloo art pieces.
Writing

P1 have had an excellent week learning our sounds and numbers. We have also been learning how to stay safe during Bonfire night with Fireman Sam to help us! 🎇

Congratulations to P6 who won the healthy snack survey last week with an impressive ratio of nearly 94% of healthy versus unhealthy snacks. I hope you enjoyed the smoothie making prize.

A group of Primary 6&7 students went along to Meadowbank stadium on Monday 3rd November to represent our school at the competition. We competed in a variety of track and field events. Unfortunately, we didn’t place in the top 3 schools on the day but we were the highest scoring school in some of the events. I am very proud of what we achieved and the sportsmanship we demonstrated on the day.

Article 28 a right to education
This week P3 started their new class topic, “Habitats”. Pupils learnt what a habitat is, and different habitats across the world.
We started by looking at Desert habitats, where they are on the map and what plants and animals live there.
We used this knowledge to start the first of our 4 habitats for our mixed technique collages. Pupils drew a desert scene and then used hot and cold coloured pencils to create a sunset, before using glue and salt to create a sand like texture. #Article24
P3 also had a wonderful time learning about All Saints, attending Mass and participating in the Halloween disco! #Article2 #Article14
P1 have been superstars this week! We’ve worked so hard with our phonics, numeracy and writing! We’ve also been very creative and active in our play, showing our school values! Keep up the excellent work P1! ✨

Our P5s made a splash in their final swimming lesson by learning vital water safety skills! They even wore pyjamas to experience how it feels to swim in clothes — a realistic and fun way to understand how to stay calm and safe if they ever fell into water. Brilliant effort from everyone! 👏
#UNCRC Article 6 – Every child has the right to life and to be kept safe.
P6 ended the “Our Prehistoric World” topic this week. We finished this by looking at how we know about prehistoric animals as well as how Early Humans lived. We looked at Skara Brae, an ancient village found in Orkney and fossils that are discovered by palaeontologists. We then collected leaves from outside and created our own fossil rubbings, such like the ones that scientists may make of fossils.
Well done Primary 6, this has been a very interesting topic and you have all put your best efforts into it!
