This week for black history month, P6 looked at the work and life of Wangari Maathai. We were very inspired by her courage and the work she did in Kenya to improve the life of the residents there. We created our own p6 “Green Belt Tree” much like the movement Wangari created. The children created messages on the leaves of how they could help the world, or of how they were inspired by Wangari Maathai🌿

P3 have been learning about Mary, our mother and the rosary as we entered October. We decorated stones with roses and presented them in our school Mary Garden. They have also been practicing the Hail Mary Prayer. #article14
P3 have also been learning about autumn and the changes in the weather whilst creating gorgeous autumnal leaf artwork 🍁🍂🍃

In October, the month dedicated to Mary, our pupils painted rose stones to represent their prayers and intentions. They placed them in our Mary Garden and gathered to pray, showing love and gratitude through this creative act. The activity helped them reflect, express their faith, and feel part of our faith community, linking to UNCRC Article 14 – every child’s right to freedom of thought, belief, and religion.

Primary 4 have been learning about Celtic roundhouses. We discovered that roundhouses were important community buildings in Celtic times. They were built using wattle and daub for the walls and had large conical roofs made from thatch. Inside, families lived around a central open fire, which was used for cooking and heating. There were no chimneys, so the smoke drifted up through the thatched roof. Sometimes, even farm animals were kept inside the roundhouse to keep them safe and warm.
In class, we recreated roundhouses using clay and straw. We really enjoyed constructing them, and even using them for play afterwards!

This week in PE with Miss Christie P6 looked at different sport skills. Some of these we have learnt over past couple weeks and others we will look at after the holidays. We also played a fun shooting game to end the lesson. On Tuesday with Ms Armitage P6 played drop kick rounders.
